Ioannina

The capital of Epirus. It is built at an altitude of 500 m, on the banks of Lake Pamvotida. It has about 100,000 inhabitants. The city also has a large university that enriches the local population.

The city has a rich history, evident in the modern urban landscape. It flourished during the Turkish occupation in the late 18th Century, and until the Greek Revolution.
